Steelheads add pair of blue liners – Elbrecht

Elbrecht, 24, played college hockey at Minnesota State, the same college program that produced former Steelhead standout Kael Mouillierat. Elbrecht spent the past two seasons as the squad’s captain, appearing in a total of 142 games during his four-year stint with the Mavericks. In that time, the 6-foot-4 defenseman scored three goals and added 24 assists.

Walleye Sign 2 Defensemen from Niagara University

Niagara University defensemen Dan Weiss and CJ Chartrain have agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2013-14 season.

Weiss, a native of Ballwin, Missouri, spent the last four seasons playing for the Niagara Purple Eagles. While at Niagara, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman appeared in 125 games, netting seven goals and 25 assists to go along with 62 penalty minutes.

During the season, Kraemer pledged $10 to charity for each goal he scored. It may not sound like much, but remember this is minor league hockey, the ECHL, and paychecks aren’t nearly as large as those found in the NHL or even AHL.
