Former UMass Lowell defenseman Greg Amlong has announced via his twitter account that he is transferring to Rochester Institute of Technology. The O’Fallon, Missouri native played his first two seasons for Norm Bazin’s River Hawks where he posted one goal and 11 assists in 43 combined games.

And if they were Siamese twins, McGrath and Amlong would be the most mismatched twins since Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. McGrath, a forward, stands a mere 5-7 and weighs 160 pounds, while Amlong, a defenseman, checks in at 6-2, 200.

The River Hawks never trailed in the hockey game. Freshman Ryan McGrath (O’Fallon, Mo.) put UMass Lowell on top at the 10:27 mark of the first period in electrifying fashion. McGrath took a pass from freshman defenseman Greg Amlong (O’Fallon, Mo.) in the neutral zone and danced past two CC defenders just inside the blue line before snapping the puck into the upper left corner of the CC net.
