The American Hockey League announced today that Peoria Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop has been selected as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15, 2012.

Bishop still on track to NHL

Three seasons.
That’s how long Ben Bishop figured it would take until he had his chance to shine with the St. Louis Blues.
He had played 121 AHL games with the Peoria Rivermen and he had finished the 2010-11 season with the best numbers of his career. He had a taste of the NHL and even picked up his first shutout with the big club in February.
Charlie Effinger Signs With The Chicago Wolves

The Chicago Wolves have signed defensemen Dustin Friesen and David Pszenyczny and goaltender Charlie Effinger.
Effinger spent the 2010-11 campaign backstopping the Newcastle Vipers of the Elite Ice Hockey League. He posted a 14-39-2 record and a 4.76 goals-against average in 56 games with Newcastle.
University of Wisconsin Grad Davies Returns To Wolves

The Chicago Wolves have re-signed forward Michael Davies.
Davies appeared in 49 games with the Wolves as a rookie last season and shared second among Chicago’s first-year pro’s with 20 points (8G, 12A). He also skated in eight games with the ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators, recording seven points (2G, 5A).
