Amarillo Bull Matt Sieckhaus was selected as the South Division Star of the Week in the North American Hockey League.

The 20-year-old Sieckhaus recorded six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in two Amarillo wins over Corpus Christi last weekend. His highlight game arrived Friday when he was a plus-4 by scoring three goals and adding an assist in the 7-1 Bulls victory.

Ryan MacInnis hopes to follow in father’s footsteps

Ryan MacInnis is hopeful that he’ll one day be able to follow the path of his Hockey Hall of Fame father. The only difference is he’ll do so playing at a different position.

Unlike Al MacInnis, a seven-time All-Star defenseman who spent 23 seasons in the League with the St. Louis Blues and Calgary Flames, son Ryan plays center for the Ontario Hockey League’s Kitchener Rangers. The younger MacInnis was one of 39 players in attendance here at Consol Energy Center for the morning practice session in preparation for the second annual CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game.

Vogler, 6’1” and 174 lbs is from Florissant, MO, and played last season for the Cleveland Barons U18 Midget team. His play attracted the attention of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders who own his USHL rights. He began playing roller hockey at age 5 but, after two years, switched to goalie. He feels grateful for his opportunity with Merrimack.

Musketeers prepare for second team camp

Sure, the Sioux City Musketeers forced turnovers last season, but now they’re starting to learn new head coach Jay Varady’s way of causing opponents to lose the puck.

Twenty-three forwards, 11 defensemen and three goaltenders will participate, starting today, at a team camp held at Mills Ice Arena, the practice facility of the National Hockey League’s St. Louis Blues. Over the next four days, skaters trying to land a spot on Sioux City’s United States Hockey League roster will learn the structures that made Varady’s past teams successful.
