UW-Stout sophomore goaltender Spencer Viele was named WIAC men’s hockey player of the week Tuesday. Viele made 48 saves — 21 saves in the second period — to help the Blue Devils to a 4-3 win over No. 12 UW-Eau Claire on Saturday.

Viele earns athlete of the week honors
UW-Stout goalie Spencer Viele recorded his first two wins as a Blue Devil, picking up a 4-1 win over Finlandia University (Mich.) on Nov. 21, and a 2-1 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) on Nov. 22, and was selected as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) hockey athlete of the week.

Phil Lux Commits To Manhattanville College
St. Louis Jr. Blues forward Phil Lux has committed to play hockey for the Manhattanville College Valiants in 2012-13. Lux joined the Jr. Blues midway through the season after beginning the season in Sioux City with the Musketeers.
