Stastny was released from his professional tryout agreement by the Blues on Thursday.
Stastny has not played in North America since the 2009-10 season, split between St. Louis and AHL Manitoba. The 33-year-old spent last season with the Schwenningen Wild Wings of the DEL, where he logged 20 points in 38 contests.
Yan Stastny saw it and appreciated the sentiment. Since playing for the St. Louis Sting in 1999-2000, Stastny has been in professional hockey with 14 different teams in eight different leagues and five different countries.
