The Western Michigan University hockey team has gotten off to a good start this year, with a 5-1-2 record at Lawson Arena alone, only three less wins than the team had in total last season. One player that has helped the team with that start this year is sophomore goaltender Trevor Gorsuch.
Eight Western Michigan hockey freshmen have been named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference team, including three to the NCHC Scholar-Athlete Team for having a GPA of 3.50 or better.

Gorsuch, 20, was 38-41-9 in four seasons with the Warriors, tallying a 2.64 goals against average and .921 save percentage. He posted six wins, including three shutouts, and 1.23 goals against average last year in the playoffs for Michigan, which advanced to the Robertson Cup semifinals.
Michigan’s Alex Berardinelli scored at 12 minutes 58 seconds into the first period Saturday night, and Warriors goalkeeper Trevor Gorsuch went on to earn the shutout despite his team being outshot 25-13 over the final two periods.

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the rosters for next month’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, presented by Combat Hockey, which will be held from February 18-20 at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan.
