The Gwinnett Gladiators announced the signing of defenseman Tony DeHart for the 2014-15 season on Wednesday.

DeHart, a fifth-round draft pick (125th overall) of the New York Islanders in 2010, split his time last season with the now-defunct St. Charles Chill of the CHL and the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, scoring 12 points (2g, 10a) over 19 total games with the two squads. In 129 professional contests, the 24-year-old has 54 points (11g, 43a) and 123 penalty minutes to his name.

It’s hard to tell which is worse for the expansion St. Charles Chill in their first CHL season, and it’s hard to tell whether one causes the other.

Do the defections, now at six for the season, cause the losses? Or do the losses cause the defections?

Home Grown Talent Abundant On St. Charles Chill Roster

When the St. Charles Chill announced the first three signings in their history, it was all about home grown talent. Forward Jordan Fox (Kirkwood, MO), defenseman Tony DeHart (Ballwin, MO), and forward Kyle Kraemer (St. Louis, MO) were the first three players named to the Chill’s roster. The Chill have now added to the roster two more players with St. Louis ties.

Chill Announce First Three Players in Franchise History

The St. Charles Chill professional hockey club announced Tuesday at a press conference at The Family Arena the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed the first three players in team history. Forwards Jordan Fox and Kyle Kraemer as well as defenseman Tony DeHart have all signed with the Chill for the team’s inaugural season.
