Blue Devils’ Viele earns WIAC honor
UW-Stout sophomore goaltender Spencer Viele was named WIAC men’s hockey player of the week Tuesday. Viele made 48 saves — 21 saves in the second period — to help the Blue Devils to a 4-3 win over No. 12 UW-Eau Claire on Saturday.
Viele earns athlete of the week honors
UW-Stout goalie Spencer Viele recorded his first two wins as a Blue Devil, picking up a 4-1 win over Finlandia University (Mich.) on Nov. 21, and a 2-1 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) on Nov. 22, and was selected as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) hockey athlete of the week.

3 St. Louis Area Goaltenders have been named to the 2013 NAHL Prospects Team:
Trevor Gorsuch – Michigan Warriors (Great Lakes)
Tyler Parks – Minot Minatours (Frontier)
Spencer Viele – Topeka Roadrunners (Midwest)
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced the rosters for next month’s NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, presented by Combat Hockey, which will be held from February 18-20 at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan.
Spencer Viele Named 2nd Star Of The Week In NAHL
Viele, 19, posted two wins in the Bandits weekend home sweep of the Topeka RoadRunners. On Friday, the 5’10, 175 lbs. goaltender stopped 23 of 26 Roadrunner shots in a 5-3 win. The next night, Viele put out his best performance of the year with a 39-save shutout of the RoadRunners.
St. Louis Bandits – NAHL – Spencer Viele Between The Pipes
In goal this season, the Bandits will go with Spencer Viele and Tyler Last between the pipes. Viele is a rookie who played last season for the St. Louis Blues Midget Tier I 18U team and Last comes to the Bandits after spending the entire season along with seeing plenty of shots with Port Huron.
