Top-line centre Ryan MacInnis and starting goalie Luke Opilka were both invited to USA Hockey’s selection camp Monday, while defenceman Dmitrii Sergeev has made Russia’s roster for the tournament, which runs Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Helsinki, Finland.
Ryan MacInnis celebrated his milestone games last weekend in fine fashion.
MacInnis, 19 and in his third season with Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League, had one goal and three assists in wins against Sarnia and Sault Ste. Marie.
Rookie goaltender Luke Richardson made 22 saves and Ryan MacInnis scored at the 3:26 mark of overtime as the Kitchener Rangers came away with a 2-1 win over the Owen Sound Attack in front of 3,198 fans at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre on Saturday night.
Two years later MacInnis and Robinson are not only close friends but one of the most potent one-two combos in the Ontario Hockey League.
Forward Ryan MacInnis (2014, No. 43), the son of Hockey Hall of Fame defenseman Al MacInnis, also will look to make an impression on the Coyotes’ staff. He had 25 goals and 62 points with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL in 2014-15.
Fifteen years ago, Ryan MacInnis, Matthew Tkachuk and Dominic Turgeon ran around the bowels of Scottrade Center like they owned the place, playing mini-sticks and generally creating havoc in the dressing room where their fathers — Keith Tkachuk, Al MacInnis and Pierre Turgeon — were all members of the St. Louis Blues.
The national team announced on Tuesday morning that forwards Ryan MacInnis, Conor Garland, Jordan Greenway, and Christian Fischer had been cut from the U20 roster at development camp in Lake Placid; those four were joined by defensemen Jack Dougherty and Joshua Jacobs as the two defensemen cut, while blue liner Jonathan Macleod has left camp for ‘precautionary reasons’.
He isn’t the only prospect that will have a chance to make the team next year.
MacInnis, a product of St.Louis, Missouri, will play with Dvorak, along with Fischer, on “Team Blue” at the USA Evaluation Camp.
Centre Ryan MacInnis is Kitchener’s finalist for the Red Tilson Trophy for Most Outstanding Player of the Year. The Arizona Coyotes signee had 25 goals and 37 assists in 67 games this past season and was recognized by the Rangers as the team’s Most Valuable Player.
