Sioux City Musketeers goaltender Cameron Gornet announced his commitment to Harvard University. The league-leader in saves (219) and minutes (538) is playing in his second season in the USHL after posting a 11-7-1 record, 2.26 GAA and .923 SV% last season with Sioux City.
Winners include Auston Matthews of Team USA, named CCM Forward of the Week; Chad Krys of Team USA and Hayden Shaw of the Dubuque Fighting Saints, named co-recipients of CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Cam Gornet of the Sioux City Musketeers and Eric Schierhorn of the Muskegon Lumberjacks, selected as co-recipients of CCM Goaltender of the Week.
Gornet posted his second shutout of the season Saturday night, recording 35 saves as the Musketeers blanked the Madison Capitols 6-0 in front of 3,376 fans at Alliant Energy Center. Joe Snively and Max Kalter each recorded a goal and an assist for Coach Jay Varady’s 34-16-5 Musketeers, who clinched a second straight United States Hockey League playoff berth.
The Sioux City Muskeeters of the United States Hockey League have selected Brendan Wilson, Alec Pellegrino, and Cameron Gornet in the 2013 USHL Entry Draft.
