One of the beautiful things about hockey is the fighting. In just about any other sport, aside from boxing, it’s considered petty, rude, immature, and ungentlemanly. But in hockey, it is strategic, aggressive, and, if you’re Brandon Bollig, it might just be good old-fashioned fun.
“That’s obviously the role I need to fill to stay at the level and to keep a job for years to come,” said Bollig, who also fought Reaves in the American Hockey League. “I’m looking to make a name for myself, whether it be through fighting or hitting or whatever it may be.”
St. Charles, Mo., isn’t exactly a hotbed for hockey, so Brandon Bollig has not quite grasped just how a kid from the city near St. Louis reached the NHL.
“I honestly am still trying to figure that out,” the Blackhawks rookie said. “Whatever happened, I’m sure glad it did. It has been a wild ride up here and has been a blast.”

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Brandon Bollig from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Bollig becomes the 46th different IceHogs skater to get recalled to the National Hockey League and fifth during 2011-12 to get recalled to Chicago.
