After a stint on the injured reserve list, Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop returned to action in spectacular fashion on Tuesday night. His Bolts entered Madison Square Garden and walked out with a 2-1 victory and two very important points in the standings.
Bishop was back in the net for the first time since he sprained his right wrist in the first period at Edmonton on Jan. 5. He missed three games before dressing as the backup to Anders Lindback on Monday at Columbus. He didn’t play in the Lightning’s 3-2 loss.
Bishop, currently sidelined with an injury of his own (that’s not believed to be serious) was narrowly edged out by Jimmy Howard for the third and final Olympic spot on Jan. 1, when USA Hockey made its official roster announcement.
While Steven Stamkos has been out with a broken leg, goaltender Ben Bishop has been on the top of his game, helping the Tampa Bay Lightning to maintain their position in the thick of things in the Atlantic Division.
