Elliott’s new contract is bad news for Bishop

Blues goaltending prospect Ben Bishop had the same reaction as many fans did Wednesday when the club signed Brian Elliott to a two-year, $3.6 million contract extension.
Bishop, who is in his fourth full season in the American Hockey League and NHL-ready according to many league observers, might be in his final days with his hometown organization. The Blues now have Elliott and Jaroslav Halak locked up for the next two seasons.
Ben Bishop Named Reebok/AHL Player of the Week

The American Hockey League announced today that Peoria Rivermen goaltender Ben Bishop has been selected as the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 15, 2012.
Bishop still on track to NHL

Three seasons.
That’s how long Ben Bishop figured it would take until he had his chance to shine with the St. Louis Blues.
He had played 121 AHL games with the Peoria Rivermen and he had finished the 2010-11 season with the best numbers of his career. He had a taste of the NHL and even picked up his first shutout with the big club in February.
Blues Re-Sign Ben Bishop

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Tuesday the club has signed goaltender Ben Bishop to a one-year, two-way contract. “Ben keeps pushing himself to take the next step and we expect him to compete to make our team this season,” said Armstrong.
