The addition of new forward Alex Jasiek, 19, has paid immediate dividends for the Austin Bruins, who have won all four games since his arrival and ramped up their offense in the process. That was evident against this past week as the St. Louis, Missouri native led his new team to two more wins, both over the Brookings Blizzard.
Jasiek scored 2:45 into overtime on Wednesday to lift the Bruins to a 1-0 victory against the Brookings Blizzard in a North American Hockey League Central Division game at Riverside Arena. Bruins captain Brian Bachnak assisted on the game’s lone goal.

Des Moines Buccaneers forward Alex Jasiek has committed to Dartmouth College. The St. Louis, Mo. native came up through the St. Louis Junior Blues youth program. The five-foot-nine-inch Jasiek played for the Jr. Blues U18 team this past season before playing in two games for the Buccaneers in the USHL.
The U.S. Under-17 Select Team clinched first place in the 2012 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament with a 5-2 win over the Czech Republic. Ten different players recorded a point to keep Team USA undefeated in tournament play at 3-0-0.

The Des Moines Buccaneers selected six players as part of the United States Hockey League’s annual Future’s Draft held on Tuesday night. Only those players with a 1996 birth year were eligible in this season’s draft.
Today, USA Hockey announced the 50-plus player roster for its annual NTDP Evaluation Camp. The roster features many of the best American players from the 1996 birth year, who will be vying for spots on next year’s U.S. National Under-17 Team.
