Friedmann scores two as Grizzlies beat Clippers

St. Louis might not seem the obvious place to look for hockey talent. But T.J. Friedmann would care to disagree. The six-foot-three native of the Missouri metropolis scored twice to lead the Victoria Grizzlies to a 5-2 victory over the Nanaimo Clippers on Saturday night at the Q Centre as the B.C. Hockey League club rolled to 18-5-5.

He scored a go-ahead goal in the third that was eventually matched, but then fired in the game-ending mark, after Alex Petan buried QC’s first shootout chance, in a 4-3 shootout victory over the Indy Fuel at the iWireless Center.

Wideman named Sher-Wood Hockey/ECHL Player of the Week

Wideman scored four goals, added three assists and was  +7 last week, helping the Fuel to a 3-0-0 record.

The 24-year-old tallied a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over Wheeling on Friday and in a 4-3 victory against Atlanta on Saturday before notching three points (2g-1a) in a 6-5 win over the Gladiators on Sunday.
