Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny will be out about 10 days with a bruised left foot, the team said Monday.
Stastny suffered the injury Sunday night against Vancouver, after blocking a slap shot from the Canucks’ Jason Garrison. Stastny had not missed a game previously this season.
The Ducks have signed left wing Patrick Maroon to a two-year contract extension through the 2014-15 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
Having to put forwards Kyle Palmieri and Brad Staubitz on injured reserve, the Ducks replenished their roster Monday by recalling wingers Patrick Maroon and Devante Smith-Pelly from Norfolk of the American Hockey League.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Brandon Bollig is not a particularly skilled hockey player. He certainly wasn’t an indispensable part of the ‘Hawks juggernaut that feasted upon the Western Conference over the past two months.
The Devils today assigned right winger Cam Janssen and rookie goalie Keith Kinkaid to Albany (AHL).
The Devils recalled winger Cam Janssen and he will be in the lineup in place of Stefan Matteau. Janssen will wear No. 25.
“Energy. Fresh legs. We’re in a tough part of the schedule and we’re going to rotate people in and out,” DeBoer said. “The quality I’m looking for him to bring is energy. He’s an energetic guy. He’s energetic in the room and on the bench. He plays energetic. We’re looking for a shot of that.”
For an Ottawa Senators team ravaged by injuries this season, the loss of No. 1 goalie Craig Anderson to a sprained ankle was seen by many as the final blow.
Enter Ben Bishop.
Joe Vitale threw some pretty angry punches at Adam Hall while eluding most of Hall’s responses. Vitale may not drop the gloves too often, but this was a nice showing from the Pittsburgh forward.
It’s not often that a Monday is a banner day for anybody, but today will go down as a good one for Ben Bishop. He was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week for the week ending Feb. 24.
All is going well for Cam Janssen with the Albany Devils. Janssen, a veteran of 311 National Hockey League contests ( New Jersey Devils & St. Louis Blues ), having skated in parts of 8 seasons, the 28-year old wing is anxious to build on his game.
