Former Alton High Redbirds hockey standout Dakota Mermis was signed to an entry-level contract Wednesday by the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes. Mermis, 21 and a former Telegraph Hockey Player of the Year, signed a three-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Senators, Wideman agree on two-way contract

The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Chris Wideman on a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $600,000 in the National Hockey League and of $400,000 in the American Hockey League.
