St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed defenseman and St. Louis native Chris Butler to a one-year contract.

Florida Panthers Agree to Terms with G Mike McKenna
McKenna, 32, spent the 2014-15 season with the Portland Pirates (AHL), registering a 27-18-6 record with a 2.24 goals against average, .926 save percentage and seven shutouts. McKenna has played in 332 American Hockey League games, registering a 159-131-20 career record, 2.73 goals against average, .913 save percentage and 22 shutouts.
Former Alton standout Dakota Mermis signs with Arizona Coyotes
Former Alton High Redbirds hockey standout Dakota Mermis was signed to an entry-level contract Wednesday by the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes. Mermis, 21 and a former Telegraph Hockey Player of the Year, signed a three-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Senators, Wideman agree on two-way contract
The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Chris Wideman on a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $600,000 in the National Hockey League and of $400,000 in the American Hockey League.
Effingham native Luke Opilka drafted by St. Louis Blues
Opilka spent hours and hours driving from Effingham to St. Louis and back to play hockey, with his brothers doing the same. It got to the point where his family relocated to St. Louis after Opilka finished sixth grade, cutting down the travel time for hockey-related pursuits.

Ottawa Only Has Themselves to Blame for Losing Chris Wideman
