Matthew Tkachuk, the son of former NHLer Keith Tkachuk, is one of the top prospects eligible for the 2016 Draft. Playing with the U.S. National Team Development Program last season, he will also be playing for a new team in 2015-16. That team will be the London Knights of the OHL. Hence, the connection begins.
Though Sam Warning and Robin Höglund never heard their names called in a National Hockey League draft, they both still have the chance to make their pro dreams a reality.
Warning and Höglund were invited to participate in the Minnesota Wild’s development camp from July 9-14, despite not being officially affiliated with the team.
The practices were packed at The St. Louis Mills Mall. The Blues also invite to the camp some local college players.
It gives them a thrill and the team a chance to evaluate them. One of those players invited this week was Chaminade grad Grant Frederic.

The St. Louis Blues drafted Luke Opilka, one of the top American-born netminding prospects in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, in the fifth round. Opilka went 146th overall — but the St. Louis native has already inked an entry level deal with the club that took him just this spring, with the Central Division club signing him just hours after the Edmonton Oilers inked Connor McDavid.
St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed goaltender Luke Opilka to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman John Ramage to a one-year, two-way NHL/AHL contract for the 2015-16 season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
