It might be easy to say the last-place Michigan Warriors have the Johnstown Tomahawks’ number this season.
Then again, Warriors goaltender Trevor Gorsuch had much more to do with his team’s 3-1 victory over Johnstown than luck or fate did on Friday night.
Filling his roster spot will be AJ Duggan, a forward out of Chesterfield, Mo. Duggan was selected by the Tornado in the sixth round of the 2012 NAHL Entry Draft, but opted for the USHL instead. He played in one preseason game with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, but injuries have kept him sidelined for most of the season.
St. Louis Jr. Blues forward Trey Dodd has signed a tender with the Austin Bruins of the NAHL. Dodd, one of the few 1996 birth year players in the NA3HL, committed to the Bruins earlier this week.
It was quite a week for the Michigan Warriors and 18-year-old goaltender Trevor Gorsuch. The Warriors posted five wins last week, all with Gorsuch (6’2/205) in goal and now find themselves just a point out of 7th place and three points out of a playoff spot in the North Division.
The St. Louis Jr. Blues of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) have announced that defenseman Kyle Meeh has signed an NAHL tender with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the West Division.
The 17-year-old from St. Louis, Missouri, was stellar in the month of November as he registered eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) in seven games played as the Jr. Blues posted a 7-0-0 record in November and Meeh was honored as NA3HL Defenseman of the Month.
Central Division Star of the Week: Tyler Parks, goaltender, Minot Minotauros
Winners of their last six in the row, the Minot Minotauros are one of the hottest teams in the NAHL, and playing a big part is their goaltender Tyler Parks. The 20-year-old from St. Louis, Missouri, was instrumental in Minot’s sweep this past weekend at home of the 1st place Austin Bruins.
Hockey players are known for many things, not the least of which is their hair. From the days of Brett Hull and Mike Ricci to the more modern-day Scott Hartnell and Patrick Kane, it’s become common to see hair poking out from the bottom of players’ helmets. The NAHL has even paired with Gongshow Hockey to bring fans the “Flow of the Month,” awarded to the player with the league’s best ‘do. It’s becoming increasingly more likely that no member of the Texas Tornado wins the award this year, in one of the more moving displays of team solidarity you can find.

As the roster deadline approached for the NA3HL, the Jr. Blues had bitter sweet news. First, the St. Louis Bandits of the NAHL called Head Coach, J.P. Beilsten looking for a left handed forward with junior hockey experience, and more than one year of eligibility.
The Wenatchee Wild reacquired Jacob Barber , the high-energy, high-scoring forward who was a catalyst on last season’s team that contended for a West Division championship. The Wild also acquired defenseman Tyler Rostenkowski and the rights to forward Alec Shields.
