OHL Names Clarke Month’s Top Rookie

Blake Clarke of the Brampton Battalion is the Ontario Hockey League’s rookie of the month for December, the league announced Friday.

Knights Sign Mermis To OHL Contract

General Manager Mark Hunter announced today that the team has signed defenseman Dakota Mermis to an Ontario Hockey League contract.  Mermis, a 12th round pick of the London Knights in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection, spent the first part of this season at the University of Denver.  He was also a part of the USHL’s 2011-2012 Green Bay Gamblers who went on to win the Clark Cup last season.  London Knights forward Alex Broadhurst was also a member of that championship team.  Mermis will wear #44 for the London Knights.

Clarke Scores Twice As Battallian Edge The Sting

Blake Clarke scored twice, including the eventual winner, as the Brampton Battalion edged the host Sarnia Sting 3-2 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Both of Clarke’s goals came late in the second period and his second at 18:32 gave Brampton a 3-1 lead heading into the final period.

Blake Clarke snaps 2-2 tie in third period as Battalion beats Wolves 4-2

With fans in attendance from North Bay, the visiting Brampton Battalion gave them something to smile about as they beat the Sudbury Wolves 4-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Wednesday.

Mike Amadio, Barclay Goodrow, Blake Clarke and Matt MacLeod scored for the Battalion (9-8-3-2). Joshua Leivo and Nathan Pancel replied for the Wolves (8-12-0-2).

CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game Roster Announced

USA Hockey announced today the 40 players who will participate in the inaugural CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game, which will take place Sept. 29 at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

The roster boasts 40 of the top American prospects eligible for the 2013 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Represented are 31 players from the United States Hockey League, the top junior league in America, including 22 from USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich. Additionally, at least 28 of the 40 are future NCAA Division I college players.
