Varady introduced as Musketeers coach
How close are the Sioux City Musketeers to winning a United States Hockey League championship?
Jay Varady was unsure how to answer the question that arose in a press conference Thursday afternoon at the IBP Ice Center, when he was introduced as the 10th head coach/general manager in the program’s history.
Crabtree, Wilson, and Stahlhuth Selected in 2013 NAHL Draft by Odessa Jackalopes
In addition to the Jacks’ 30-man protected list, which includes returning players and signed tenders, Cressman and Jackalopes Assistant Coach and Director of Scouting Craig Sarner selected a trio of players from the St. Louis Blues U18 program (Brady Crabtree – F, Thomas Stahlhuth – D, Brandon Wilson – D).
Kolaz and Stewart Selected in the 2013 NAHL Draft by Springfield Jr. Blues
Stewart recorded 3 goals and 13 assists last season. Prior to that he played for the St. Louis Amateur Blues. Lucas attended this year’s Pre Draft Camp and was a standout on the blue line.
Kolaz posted 17 goals and 20 assists in 40 games last season. He helped lead the Amatuer Blues to the Central District Championship. Kolaz attended this season’s Pre Draft Camp.
Alec Pellegrino Selected 6th Overall in 2013 NAHL Draft
In the first round, the Warriors picked sixth overall and took forward Alec Pellegrino. Pellegrino is a 1995 birth year, who spent his 2012-13 season with the St. Louis Amateur Blues U18 team of the MWEHL. Pellegrino had 34 points in 35 games including 112 minuets in penalties. The 6’0, 194 lbs. Pellegrino is a native of Swansea, IL.
Sioux City Musketeers Name Jay Varady Head Coach
The Sioux City Musketeers announced today that Jay Varady has been named head coach and general manager of the team. He becomes the 10th coach in the history of the Musketeers who will play their 35th season of junior hockey in the USHL during the 2013-14 season.
Kyle Novak Named to 2013 All-USHL Second Team
The League’s fourth-leading scorer with 77 points (27g, 50a) appeared in all 64 games this season for the Gamblers. One of just three players to record 50 assists, he had multi-assist games on 12 occasions. He put together a 14-game point streak from January 13th to March 1st, amassing 22 points (12g, 10a) over that span which included a hat trick on January 18th, his first in the USHL. The 20-year-old led his team with a plus-23 rating and ranked second in the League with four shorthanded goals. The O’Fallon, Missouri native will play college hockey at Western Michigan University.
