A PENALTY-SHOTS victory over Belfast Giants last night at least brought some of the smiles back to the Nottingham Panthers camp after a home double-header against the defending champions

Twenty-four hours earlier, they were beaten 5-3 after a dismal second period which Giants – outshot 18-9 in the opening session – deservedly took 4-2 to win them the game.

The U.S. Under-17 Select Team clinched first place in the 2012 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament with a 5-2 win over the Czech Republic. Ten different players recorded a point to keep Team USA undefeated in tournament play at 3-0-0.

The 26-year-old center changes from the farm team of the Buffalo Sabres, the Rochester Americans (American Hockey League) to the Rhine. In 63 games Turnbull scored twelve goals and gave 15 assists. This past season, he also went for three games for the Sabres on the ice and scored once.

2012 U.S. Under-17 Select Team Announced

Twenty players who participated at USA Hockey’s Boys’ Select 16 Player Development Camp that ended today in Rochester, N.Y., have been selected for the 2012 U.S. Under-17 Select Team. The squad will compete at the 2012 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament Aug. 7-11, in Chomutov, Kadan and Klasterec, Czech Republic.
