Bishop, currently sidelined with an injury of his own (that’s not believed to be serious) was narrowly edged out by Jimmy Howard for the third and final Olympic spot on Jan. 1, when USA Hockey made its official roster announcement.

Under-17 Team Claims World U17 Challenge Title
Michael Lackey finished the tournament ranked first in both goals-against average (0.75) and save percentage (.958). Teammate Luke Opilka (St. Louis, Mo.) registered a 1.00 GAA (tied for second) and .927 save percentage (sixth).
Team USA Advances to Title Game at World U17 Challenge
Colin White (Hanover, Mass.) and Matthew Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) scored two goals and added one assist each, as the U.S. Men’s National Under-17 Team defeated Canada’s Team Quebec, 9-1, here tonight at Centre 200 in semifinal action at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. With the win, Team USA advances to the title game tomorrow at 4 p.m. EST.
Paul Stastny Named to U.S. Olympic Team
Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny was named to the 2014 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team, USA Hockey announced today following the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. Stastny will represent the United States at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games held Feb. 7-23 in Sochi, Russia.
2014 World Under-17 Challenge Roster Announced
USA Hockey today announced the 22-player roster for the U.S. Men’s National Under-17 Team that will compete in the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge Dec. 28, 2013 – Jan. 4, 2014, in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
U.S. Women’s National Team Trims Roster
USA Hockey today announced that Kate Buesser (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Jincy Dunne (O’Fallon, Mo.) are no longer on the active roster for the 2013-14 U.S. Women’s National Team.
