Friday night’s Wisconsin men’s hockey game was a prime example of players having to walk, or in this case skate, a fine line when it comes to rules that protect their own safety.

Warning’s late goal sends Minnesota to sweep of St. Cloud State
With a plus-47 edge in shots on goal for the weekend, Minnesota’s sweep over St. Cloud State wasn’t surprising. The fact that the series still could’ve gone either way, was. The Gophers completed the sweep of the Huskies with a 3-2 win Saturday night at the National Hockey Center, a night after Minnesota’s 2-1 win Friday.
Steel Defenseman Chooses Northern Michigan University
Chicago Steel defenseman Ryan Trenz has chosen to play collegiate hockey at Northern Michigan University following his USHL career.
“I visited NMU last summer and I really liked the campus,” Trenz said. “I went on the official visit earlier in January and got to meet the coaching staff and saw a game the next day.
Berger Putting Together Strong Season at Princeton
Jack Berger comes from a hockey family. His new family at Princeton is reaping the benefits.
Berger is in his sophomore season as a forward on the Princeton Men’s Hockey team, and the St. Louis native has become one of the Tigers’ top players. It is no surprise considering how Berger and his four younger brothers have spent much of their lives playing the sport they love.
WCHA Suspends Zombo For One Game
The Western Collegiate Hockey Association on Tuesday announced that UNO freshman forward Dominic Zombo has been suspended for one game for his actions in the Mavericks’ game against Minnesota Duluth on January 14.
Cal Heeter Nominated for Hobey Baker Award
Senior goalie Cal Heeter is 12-3-3 on the year, fifth second in the NCAA in save percentage (.932), is tied for third in winning percentage (.750) and comes in ninth in goals-against average (2.02).

Saracino and Madolora earn Atlantic Hockey Association Weekly Honors
Junior defenseman Chris Saracino (St. Louis, MO) and senior goaltender Shane Madolora (Salinas, CA) of the RIT men’s hockey team were named the Atlantic Hockey Association Player and Goaltender of the Week respectively, for the week ending Jan. 1, 2012.
